I can see how iiNet won because AFACT couldn't prove that iiNet was authorising the downloading of copywrited material.
If downloading a DVD is like stealing one from the store, should there be more procedures in place to stop people from downloading movies and more consequences for doing so?
Your store analogy is kinda good. Hollywood suing iiNet for people downloading movies is like them suing BigW if people stole movies from the store. Although in this case iiNet make more money when people download more so I guess not quite a good analogy.

Yeah it does lack there, but just in thinking of how big w have scanners at the doors and security. I was just also thinking who should be responsible in providing security, the government? ISP's? Or would it just be too hard? By the sounds of this case they can tell who is downloading it so trying to find who's doing the downloading isn't the problem.
I think in reality the person responsible for security is the person who is likely to loose the most money. I think Hollywood were hoping to set a precedent by suing ISP's rather than every single person who has ever used the Internet.
